Objectives

By the end of the undergraduate program, our students should have a solid foundation of periods and authors in British and United States literature, complemented by the study of other literatures written in English. We expect students to have expanded their knowledge of literary genres and to be able to analyze a text within its relevant contexts. Students should have further developed their critical thinking, reading, and writing skills through the engagement of literary texts.

At the graduate level, all students receive in-depth training in the teaching of literature and have the opportunity to enroll in special topics courses in literature. Some of the recently offered topics courses include The Materials of Poetry, Children's Literature, The Female Bildungsroman, Anthrozoös: Animals in Folklore and Literature, and Narratives of Troy.

Our students participate in research seminars, internships, regional and overseas conferences After completing our programs, students have gone on to graduate studies, law school, and teaching at various levels.
