This interdisciplinary course provides undergraduate students, from all concentrations, with the opportunity to mentor an at-risk youth at Hogar Portal de Amor in San German. This course was designed to provide these youths a direct link to the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez Campus via its students. Mentorship includes, but is not limited to:
1. weekday tutoring sessions Students are required to assist 45 contact hours throughout the semester, these can be divided according to the students’ academic load. All meetings with professors and coordinators count towards their contact hours and are scheduled according to availability of students and Staff. Unfortunately, we cannot provide transportation. However, we do arrange a buddy system for those who do not have transportation.
