This is a very powerful instrument that can perform elemental analysis of most elements in the periodic table at parts per billion (ppb) levels. Caution, due to the high sensitivity this instruments only works for concentrations bellow 1 (one) parts per million (ppm) level. Never introduce concentrations above 1 ppm into the detection system. The instrument is also vulnerable to damage when concentrations of high dissolved solids are analyzed. Never introduce concentration of dissolved solids above 0.5%. All samples must be filtered using a 0.45 micrometer filters. Using the instrument without taking into consideration the above limitations will result in instrument malfunction or damage. The use of the ICP-MS requires handling dangerous acids.
