This is a very powerful instrument that can perform elemental analysis of most elements in the periodic table at parts per billion (ppb) levels. Caution, due to the high sensitivity, this instruments only works for concentrations bellow 1 (one) parts per million (ppm) level. Never use concentrations above 1 ppm; these should not be introduced into the detection system of the ICP-MS. The instrument is also vulnerable to damage when concentrations of high dissolved solids are analyzed. Never introduce concentration of dissolved solids above 0.5%. All samples solutions must be filtered using a 0.45 micrometer. Using the instrument without taking into consideration the above limitations will result in instrument malfunction or permanent damage. The use of the ICP-MS requires handling dangerous acids.
