This CEM Mars 6 Microwave digestion system is specially designed for the acid digestion, solvent extraction and synthesis. The extraction mode may require the use of organic solvents, which may be volatile and flammable; when used in this mode it needs to install an accessory in the extraction vent (consult with the Instrument specialist to install the accessory). The system is constructed of non-oxidable materials and the samples vessels are made of Teflon to avoid interaction with the samples. It is a fast digestion, solvent extraction or synthesis system that speeds these processes usually to minutes.
Cautions; all the vessels in the carousel must be filled even when analyzing only one or two samples, otherwise the samples may overheat due to excess of energy and may explode damaging the system including the digestion or extraction vessels. Fill the empty vessels with distilled or deionized water. The digestion processes require de use of strong acids and the samples must be prepared and handled in a properly working extraction hood. Do not used in the extraction mode without the accessory in the vent line. This accessory only will be installed by the Instrument Specialist the coordinates the use of the ALFSEC facilities.
