ROTC leads you to become a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Armed Forces, whether in the Active component, Reserve, or National Guard.

What do you do at ROTC?

What happens if you study outside the IUPR and UPR System?

If you study outside the IUPR (Interamerican University of Puerto Rico) or UPR (University of Puerto Rico), yes, you can be part of the ROTC. You do not need to belong to the following systems in order to become an officer in the United States Armed Forces.

Welcome to the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez official “Bulldog Battalion” ARMY ROTC website. The University of Puerto Rico Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) is committed to training and developing the future officer leadership of the U.S. Army. Our Battalion consists of six different companies located through the north and south west side of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The military science elective courses in the UPR Army ROTC program, taken along with required college classes, are designed to train and develop future leaders with no obligation to the military for the first two years. Military science classes prepare students with the tools, training, and experience to help them succeed in any competitive environment. Our cadre will provide cadets the necessary skills and leadership training to become successful leaders and an important assets to the United States Army.
